One way to do that is to embed our files as Google Docs, Slides, or Sheets (instead of uploading Microsoft Office files). Students click on the link in the planner or tree and BAM!, they instantly have the info. An added benefit to doing this is that when we inevitably need to make changes, those changes will update automatically without having to do the added work of changing an uploaded file.
