In an effort to become more dedicated to blogging, I am joining not one but TWO different blog challenges. I'll post to the #ETCoaches blogging challenge on Sunday evenings and to the #InnovatorsMindset MOOC on Wednesday evenings (at least, that's what I hope I'll do.
The first post for this challenge, #ETCoaches, is to define my purpose. As you can tell from my title, Techy Thoughts and Random Ramblings, there isn't actually that much of a purpose. I'm a teacher at heart (14 years in a high school French classroom, including one teaching 10th Grade Lit/Comp), but I faced a crossroads in my last year of teaching: stay in the classroom and force another teacher out into something that she wasn't passionate about, or leave the classroom for something I was passionate about and let her stay. The choice was easy.
When I first started blogging, it was part of my grad school requirements (MEd in Instructional Technology) and had specific topics for every post. Now that I am blogging on my own, it is more difficult. Not only do I post sporadically, but I also have a tendency to be focus more on the "random ramblings" and less on the "techy thoughts." That is partly because I am a teacher at heart - one who loves technology, but still one whose passion is teaching, even if my "content area" has now changed. I see myself as someone who teaches others how to best use technology to enhance their classroom experience, whether that is teachers or students.
I'm hoping that I will be able to connect with other EdTech Coaches through this Blog Challenge and expand my own learning. I love learning new things and have found that expanding my own knowledge is one of my greatest passions, through which I can expand the abilities of those for whom I am "responsible." If you read this and have your own blog, please share so that I can add you to my Feedly feed.
Why are you here? Who are you? What are your goals?
